About Me

Who is The Diane Collective?

Hi there! My name is Diane and I’m just a girl with too many hobbies… The Diane Collective is a personal lifestyle blog about my collection of hobbies 🥁

I was born on October 28 (shout out to my fellow Scorpi-hoes), grew up in Los Angeles, went to college in San Diego, and currently reside in Washington DC doing the most boring job in the world. My dream is to move to New York City. I’ve always been someone who’s always trying out new things pretty much as soon as I think about trying them. And when I find something I really enjoy, like baking or fighting (I know they couldn’t be more alike lol), I really stick to it!

People often tell me they admire my commitment to my many passions and it inspires them to find one of their own and put their energy into it.

What inspired you to start this blog?

Like I said, I’m known for not only having a lot of hobbies but also dedicating myself to getting better at each and every one of them. Hearing people consistently tell me, “Oh, you make me want to find something like that too,” inspired me to start this blog and share more of myself.

I tried following conventional advice of niching down and tried to focus on just travel, sewing, or marketing. But, I’m a multi-passionate creative so I found myself not wanting to write when I didn’t fixate on the specific topic anymore and wanted to do something else. So, this time around, I decided not to choose. Life is too short to stick to just one thing!

And while The Diane Collective officially started as a way to sell chunky NY cookies to my local community, my ultimate goal is to inspire people to explore new interests and find a hobby they might enjoy 🙂

What kind of content can readers expect to find here?

You’ll find a mix of content that reflects my diverse interests. This includes:

Hobbies

  • Mixed Martial Arts (MMA): Recommending gear and training equipment for short women. Also, my only advice to you is to show up, ask to roll or spar (don’t wait for people to come up to you), and unapologetically say “no” to rolls or spars if you don’t feel comfortable for whatever reason (you don’t need a good one).
  • Recipes: Sharing my favorite recipes that I love making for friends and family (but can’t sell through my home bakery), like my easy banoffee pie that even dessert haters love!
  • Sewing: Sharing projects that I’m working on to make my own clothes.
  • Spirituality: Exploring astrology, tarot, and more. Yes! I am an astro-girly who is learning how to read birth charts, time transits, and connect to Spirit through card reading.
  • Travel: Writing reviews and recommendations for both budget-friendly and luxury experiences, solo travel tips, and more!

Make Money

  • Business: Sharing all my business knowledge and resources so you can hit the ground running with your business idea!
  • Home Bakery: Telling you how I make money selling cottage foods for my home bakery in my state.
  • Blogging: Teaching you how to start blogging and make money online.

Mind & Spirit

  • Sharing my personal insights and discoveries as I navigate life because I’m very self-reflective and maybe you can relate to what I’m going through (or give me advice lol).
